Workers Comp Fraud
Description

Workers Compensation Fraud is costing business and citizens billions of dollars each year. The National Insurance Crime Bureau estimates the cost of Workers’ Compensation fraud alone is at least $5 billion annually. Workers’ Compensation fraud occurs when someone willfully makes a false statement or conceals information in order to receive Workers’ Compensation benefits or prevents someone from receiving benefits to which they might be entitled.

Workers’ Compensation fraud takes place in a variety of forms. Injured workers exaggerate or lie about injuries. Some collect disability benefits while employed elsewhere. Employers misrepresent employees’ jobs, underreport payroll, or pay for an injured worker’s medical bills rather than reporting the claim to the carrier. Medical providers bill for tests and procedures that never take place.

This three hour webinar will explore the following:
1. The first hour will include a discussion of fraud versus abuse and explore claimant fraud, employer fraud, medical fraud, prescription drug fraud, and insider fraud.
2. The second hour will highlight the many types of investigation tools and activities that can be utilized at the employer and carrier levels.
3. The third hour will outline various ways in which employers can adopt a culture of “zero tolerance” for fraud in the workplace. We will also discuss Fraud Bureaus, Special Investigation Units, as well as prosecutions and restitution.

Cyber-Liability and the Personal Lines Client
Description

What are you doing? What are your children doing?—that is an even scarier question. Gone are the days of the family watching Sing Along with Mitch or our children having paper routes. We are on our computers, cell phones, I pads and every other contraption to keep us “connected.” We are blogging; tweeting, posting on Facebook and LinkedIn, creating websites for our hobbies or part time jobs; posting our personal information on dating sites; advertising “things” on other people’s websites such as homes for trade. This course will review some of the insurance issues relating to our personal cyber liability issues including:
1. Identifying Risk
2. How does the Homeowners respond to Cyber Risk
3. Does the Personal Injury on a Homeowners Policy provide coverage
4. Are there special endorsement/policies available for this exposure

Third Party Discrimination
Description

Typically when we discuss “discrimination,” we speak in terms of the employer-employee relationship in terms of exposure to loss and insurance solutions. Businesses have risk for discrimination litigation outside of this type of relationship such as: Discrimination (and harassment) of employees by persons outside the company and other third party litigation. In the area of third party discrimination both Federal and individual State laws apply and must be understood in order to provide appropriate insurance coverage.
This course will cover the following topics:
1. Understand the components of third party discrimination litigation
2. Identify insurance solutions and review “core” insurance policies for coverage
